Sugar Is Not Your Friend
In the nutrition notes I have shared with you (email me if you haven’t received them), I am very adamant about the need to dramatically reduce your daily sugar intake. This is crucial for those of you who are trying to lose weight. It is just as crucial for those of you who don’t have weight loss as your primary goal.
If you reduce your sugar intake, you’re just going to feel better and your body is going to operate at a higher level, whether you are sitting in a meeting at work or working out at bootcamp.
I encourage you to read this short guide on “simple ways to drop sugar from your diet.” Most of it is right in line with what I have already shared with you, though they don’t take as much of a hardline approach as I do. I understand you can’t overhaul your eating habits overnight, but you have to start somewhere.
“Simple Ways To Drop Sugar From Your Diet” [Zen to Fitness]
This quote from the guide captures my thoughts exactly:
To me this is basic information but it shocks me how many people load themselves with sugar all day long and do not realize it. It’s so easy to drop this stuff out of your diet and the benefits are huge!
CrossFit is not a magic pill. On its own, it is the best strength and conditioning regimen out there today. But if you truly want to excel, you have to recognize that nutrition is an integral part of the CrossFit prescription. Whether you’re doing the Zone, the Paleo, or just trying to modify your routine, you have to make better decisions about what you eat, starting first and foremost with sugar consumption.

I’m sure Coach D will back me up here - I’d recommend checking out some of Michael Pollan’s books, such as “The Omnivore’s Dilemma.” Well written, entertaining, and eye-opening.
